Twenty-five years ago, on 21 January 1997, the Solemn signing ceremony of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region Industrial Pact was held. The participating entities signed the constitutive text that would lead to the creation of the association.
This constitutive document was signed by 20 town councils, 13 business associations, 2 unions and 3 universities. The event took place at recinte firal Montjuïc-2 of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
The Barcelona Metropolitan Region Industrial Pact was born from the reflections and proposals made within the framework of the 2nd Strategic Plan of the Barcelona Strategic Plan Association 2000 (1994), and was created as a strategic partnership for competitiveness, sustainability, and social cohesion.
